Skin Aging
Internal Factors - Cause
Related to heredity, race, skin type and hormonal changes.
Formation
Decrease in the amount of subcutaneous fibroblastic cell causes the reduction of collagen fibre production. Thus, the cuticular layer in the dermis becomes thinner, weaker and loses its elasticity, while the elastic fibre in the dermis slowly disappears as we age, and subcutaneous fat becomes lesser. As skin loses its elasticity, skin becomes flabby due to the gravity and contraction of facial muscles. Hence wrinkles and fish tail lines starts to appear on cheeks, lower jaw and neck.
External Factors - Cause
It is mainly affected by negative / unhealthy lifestyle and environment, with sunlight being the main external factor to aging. Sun spots, age spots, freckles are signs of skin aging due to continual sun exposure. UVA and UVB in sunlight not only agitate activities of melanocyte, causing dark spots on our skin, it also cause degenerative symptoms in the dermis like:
1. Reduction of collagen fibre type I and type III
2. Degeneration of elastic fibre tissues
3. Chronic inflammation of dermis tissues
Changes in dermis tissues cause our skin to become coarse, lost luster and an increase in fine wrinkles. Telangiectasia is form due to the massive decrease number of collagen fibre and the skin capillaries do not receive sufficient support.
How to prevent Skin Aging?
Apply sun screen all the time. However skin aging caused by sun exposure is often seen on certain people. Apart from applying sunscreens and skin treatment medication on local area diligently, the latest development has been the Energy Beauty Therapy. It does not have the effect of conventional laser treatment for wrinkles removal, which causes damage to the dermis up to 3 or 4 months together with skin pigmentation. It is able to stimulate fibroblast in the dermis directly, increasing the production of collagen fibre and elastic fibre, enhances the growth of fibrous content in the dermis and removes telangiectasia without damage the dermis. Thus achieved a youthful and luminous skin.
Spots
Dark Spots
Also known as liver spot. It is brown in colour, often seen on the cheeks and foreheads of fertile age women. The name suggests its colour is similar to the colour of the liver, however it is not in any way related to any liver failure or dysfunction. Dark spots are mainly due to improper metabolism of melanin that deposited on the skin surface and it is not easy to be removed.
Cause
1. Effect of female hormone (pregnancy, menopause or oral contraceptive pill consumption causes dark spots formation and darkening of the spots).
2. Chronic affection of UV lights (hence sunscreen protection is essential).
3. Incorrect use of skin care or cosmetic product (especially product that contain mercury which shows whitening effect during the initial period of use, subsequently it will accelerate the deposition of pigmentation, causing the formation of dark spots).
Freckles
Freckles, mainly due to dominant heredity and the increased number of melanin. It is a dark brown colored spot that is as small as sesame or a grain. Freckles are difficult to cure completely. Sun exposure will increase the formation of freckles and darken its color. Therefore it is important to avoid over exposure of sunlight. Procedures involving exfoliation and electric current might be effective in treating freckles, but the effect is temporary and freckles will reappear after a period.
Sun Spot and Age Spots
Sun spots, as the name suggested is due to continual sun exposure. It happens to exposed body parts, such as face, arms, chest, upper back or calf. Age spots also known as “sunlight keratosis”. Age spots look brown-grey or yellow in color, and it appears to be extremely dry due to keratinization. Sun spots usually appear together with age spots. Therefore, sun spots always referred to an early sign of age spots, they are both skin aging symptoms caused by prolonged sun exposure. They reoccur easily due to aging factor and prolonged sun exposure.
Nevus of Ota
It is caused by the production of melanocyte in the dermis, but it will not disappear automatically. It often seen around the eye, cheek, forehead and nose. Blue color pigmentation could be seen on the conjunctiva of the eye.
How to avoid spots
1. Use tested and approved cosmetic or skin care product, avoid using product which contain mercury.
2. Removes make-up completed, avoid using cosmetics that contain halogen or fragrance.
3. Cut down on consumption or application of food that can cause skin to become sensitive to sunlight, such as parsley, basil, celery, lemon peels, peppermint, agrimony, fig and etc.
4. Consume vegetables and fruits rich in Vitamin C (vitamin C is an antioxidant, it can inhibit the formation of melanin).
5. Avoid consumption of oral contraceptive pill, which contains female hormones.
6. Maintain a healthy lifestyle, avoid going to bed late.
7. Most importantly, avoid UV rays when you are outdoor, it is best to wear a hat, take an umbrella that is deep in colour or apply sunscreen. (Continuous sunlight protection for at least 3-6 months is essential after treatment).
How to remove dark spots with IMAGIC Technology

Before treatment - Pigmentation & Telangiectasia are formed

During treatment

After treatment - Pigmentation & Telangiectasia are disappeared
Fully utilizing of multiple wavelength of intense pulse energy, the energy is absorbed by melanin in the skin effectively. As pulse energy is released in a short time frame, melanin will absorb high pulse energy in a shorter time frame in order to be destroyed. However the short period of time is not sufficient for the energy to reach tissues surrounding the melanin, hence achieving the target of our treatment that is to destroy melanin without damaging the skin around it.
Wrinkles
Cause
Under normal circumstances, collagen and elastic fibre in the dermis are lined up orderly in a parallel crisscross format. When certain factors spoil these two types of fibre, they will become different in size, twisted and entwined together, disorderly, causing them to lose their function of supporting the dermis. Together with the contraction of subcutaneous fat, wrinkles are formed.
Age; over exposure to UV rays; dry and dehydrated skin, improper cleansing; stimulation by dirt and make-up; long term use of improper skin care product; emotional; too much facial expression, and unhealthy lifestyle are just few of the main reasons of winkles.
Prevention
The principle of removing wrinkles is to prevent and treat it at its root. Avoiding direct to sunlight is undoubtedly the most important. Other preventions include healthy daily routine, positive attitude, proper cleansing and skin care, prevention of skin dehydration, and avoiding too much facial expression.
How to remove wrinkles?
Using pulse energy to penetrate epidermis to reach dermis layer, during the process of releasing heat the epidermis uses the special cooling system of pulse energy to protect skin form harm. When the energy absorbed by the dermis is sufficient to induce contraction of collagen and stimulates fibroblast to produce new elastic fibre and collagen to support our skin, aged and wrinkled skin will contract and regain its elasticity. Thus it will improve the appearance of fine lines. However, according to researches, you need repeated treatments to achieve visible effects.
Pathological Changes of Capillaries
It includes hyperplastic capillaries in the leg veins, varicosity, bushy telangiectasia, hyperplastic of facial capillaries, port wine stain, angioma, and abnormal veins. The cause of telangiectasia is related to bad circulation. Blood flowing back to the heart through blood vessels are detained in the capillaries nearby because of pathological changes in the capillary tissues and abnormal pressure. These blood vessels gather on the skin surface, affecting our appearance. As these expanded capillaries are on the skin surface, laser treatment could be used to treat it, with dye-laser treatment being the most common. Although dye-laser is able to deliver satisfying results, it often causes bruises when it is used to treat telangiectasia. IMAGIC Energy Beauty Therapy is able to provide you with a better solution. Capillary problems are difficult to cure; they should be treated in few sessions to achieve best results.
How to treat telangietasia of the face?
- Telangiectasia of the face affects one’s appearance greatly; intense pulse energy could be used to treat it.
- Red blood cells in the blood-vessel contain oxygenated hemoglobin. It is able to absorb the momentary energy surge in intense pulse energy, bringing the desired effect of breaking up coagulation. The treatment will leave a temporary pigmentation.
- Pulse energy treatment helps to clear telangiectasia. The skin becomes fair and luminous instantly.
